Song Key & BPM Finder
About the Song Key & BPM Finder
The Audicient Song Key & BPM Finder analyses the harmonic and rhythmic content of any audio file and tells you what key it is in and how fast it is. Key detection uses Krumhansl-Kessler profile matching across a chroma vector built from the whole track, and tempo comes from spectral-flux onset detection with autocorrelation.
Results include the Camelot code so you can line up harmonic mixes straight away, the four next-most-likely keys, and a pitch-class energy chart showing exactly which notes the track leans on.
What it does
- Key, Camelot code, and BPM from one upload
- Top five key candidates with confidence scores
- Pitch class energy chart for the whole track
- Half-time and double-time tempo suggestions
- Runs entirely in the browser — no upload
Features
Harmonic Analysis
Builds a 12-bin chroma vector across the track and matches it against established major and minor key profiles.
Camelot Ready
Every result includes its Camelot wheel position so DJs can find compatible tracks instantly.
Tempo Detection
Spectral-flux onset detection with a resonance prior centred on 120 BPM keeps half-time and double-time errors in check.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is it?
Key detection is reliable on tracks with clear harmonic content and typically agrees with Mixed In Key or Rekordbox. Sparse arrangements, heavy sub-bass, and songs that modulate can shift the result, which is why the top five candidates are shown.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. The file is decoded and analysed in your browser using the Web Audio API. Nothing is sent to a server.
Which formats work?
Any format your browser can decode — MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, and OGG all work.
