Frequently asked questions
What is A4 = 440 Hz?
A4 is the concert pitch standard — the A above middle C. At 440 Hz it's the international tuning reference used by most orchestras and DAWs.
What does the cents offset mean?
A cent is 1/100 of a semitone. If a frequency is +15¢ it means it's 15 cents sharper than the nearest note.
Why would I use 432 Hz tuning?
Some musicians prefer A4 = 432 Hz for tonal reasons. Change the A4 tuning field to 432 to see all notes recalculated for that reference.
